Funeral services for Mrs. Merline Edwards Barnes were held at 2 PM Friday, July 19, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Dennis Duvall and Rev. Mickey Breedlove officiating. Interment in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was at 12 PM till time for service Friday, July 19, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel. John E. Stephens Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Merline Edwards Barnes passed away on Saturday July 13, 2024, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Lee Edwards and Evie Lee Rogers Edwards, her first husband Jack Daniels, her son Glen Daniels, sister Yvonne Edwards Myrin, twin sister Earlene Edwards Peebles, brothers Winfred (Pete) Edwards, R.J. Edwards, H.L. (Jack) Edwards & Bobby Lee Edwards. Her husband, William Tate Barnes died 5 hours later on the same day.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Daniels Martin (Jeff), Daughter-in law, Rita Walters Daniels, grandchildren Jeffery Alan Martin, Jr., Jason Andrew Martin (Alana), Lindsey Daniels Shepard (Nathan), 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barnes was born in Neshoba County on July 8, 1935. She lived most of her life in Crystal Springs, MS. She worked at Crystal Springs Shirt Factory and various other companies through the years. After retirement she moved to Philadelphia where she resided until her death. She enjoyed family reunions and get togethers with her siblings where she was always involved in a game of cards. Her favorites being Rummy and Phase 10. She loved cooking and baking and was known for her pound cakes. Her hobbies included fishing, cross stitching and reading. She was a member of West Philadelphia Baptist Church.
