Four people have been arrested in an alleged burglary that took place at the Goforth Trailer Park earlier this month.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said the suspects include two neighbors at the trailer park, Billy DeWayne Duell and James Nolan Smith.

Duell, 51, of 11620 Highway 482 Lot 6, was arrested and charged with burglary of a dwelling and possession of stolen property.

Smith, 62, 11620 Highway 482 Lot 8, was arrested and charged with burglary of a dwelling and possession of stolen property.

Clark said their accomplices include Kimberly Duell, who is Billy Duell’s ex-wife and James Nolan Smith’s sister, and the daughter of Billy and Kimberly, Britney Smith.

Kimberly Duell, 47, of 18910 Highway 21 South, was arrested and charged with burglary of a dwelling and possession of stolen property.

Smith, 30, of 12111 Stewart Avenue, was arrested and charged with burglary of a dwelling and contempt of court.

Clark said the incident was first reported to his office on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 12, at about 9:30 a.m. when the resident of a trailer reported his mobile home had been broken into at Lot 3.

According to Clark, the victim was in the process of moving to Kosciusko and was in the area to move some of his property when he found his front door, which he had been padlocked and screwed shut, was broken into, and nearly all of his possessions had been taken.

“They pretty much cleaned him out,” Clark said.

Clark said items stolen included a small air conditioner and a small refrigerator and a number of boxes that included wall art and personal items.

“These are things that likely had no value to those who stole them,” Clark said.

Clark said during interviews with neighbors, deputies quickly found boxes of items behind Billy Duell’s trailer and the small refrigerator and air conditioner on James Nolan Smith’s front porch.

Clark said an interview with the two suspects led deputies to Kimberly Duell’s residence on Highway 21 South, where they found a trailer loaded with more of the victim’s property.

The investigation determined that the three suspects allegedly broke into the trailer and stole his property on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

“They took advantage of the victim being gone,” Clark said.

Further interviews with the trio identified Britney Smith as a suspect who was already in the Neshoba County Detention Center following her arrest for an outstanding contempt of court warrant at a safety checkpoint at the intersection of County Road 482 and Road 743 around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Following the call Saturday morning, Clark said his deputies were able to wrap up the investigation by 2 p.m.

“We have full confidence in the men and women we have out on routine patrol in Neshoba County,” Clark said.

Clark said they have recovered all of the victim’s stolen property.
