Yellow Jackets outlast Bulldogs in crucial district game

The Union Yellow Jackets defeated the Clarkdale Bulldogs by a final score of 14-7.  The first quarter was dominated by the Jacket and Bulldog defensive units. There was no offensive scoring in the quarter. At the 6:29 mark in the second quarter Xavier Boler got the Jackets on the scoreboard. He ran for a 21 yard touchdown. Samuel Alawine kicked a successful PAT. The score at half time was Union 7 Clarkdale 0.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard at the 7:55 mark of the third quarter. Lance Rawson ran for a 9 yard touchdown and Cal Culpepper kicked a successful PAT. The score remained tied at the end of the third quarter.  

At the 10:14 mark of the fourth quarter U’Darian Hickmon of Union threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Keon Hutchins and the Alawine PAT was successful. The score was Union 14 Clarkdale 7.  The game continued to be dominated by the defensive units. The Yellow Jackets stopped the Bulldogs twice on fourth down in Jacket territory to seal the victory. Union improved to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 in district play. Clarkdale has a record of 7-2 and they are 2-2 in district play.
