It was a big week for the Union softball team.

Union split a pair of games with Sebastopol but took the district championship after winning 8-5 on Monday but losing 4-3 on Tuesday. Union then took two games from Water Valley, winning 14-0 and 12-0 and didn’t give up a hit or a walk in a doubleheader sweep.

Union will now take on Hatley in second-round action. They will play at Union on Friday in a 6 p.m. contest and then play at Hatley on Saturday at 2 p.m. An if-necessary game would be Monday at Union.

Union 12, Water Valley 0

The Yellowjackets took advantage of six errors as they took a three-inning, run-rule win to take the series.

Tiara Campbell was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Lauryn Roebuck singled, scored three runs and drove in two runs.

Abigail Cleveland started in the circle and pitched three innings, striking out four without giving up a hit or a walk.
