Philadelphia Elementary will host its second annual Taste of Philly fundraising event on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 406 Stribling Street.

Organized by the Philadelphia Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), this community event is a day of food, music, games, and more all free to the public.

Jesette Rush, a PTO board member said last year’s event was very successful and attracted around 300 attendees.

“Last year was a really huge success. We thought this would be something fun to get the school and the community together,” Rush said. “We want to give the kids something fun to close out the school year.”

The Taste of Philly event will feature a lineup of four food trucks, including It’s A Wrap Roll’n Café, Rooster Ridge, Biggie Snowie, and TP’s Smokehouse, along with other vendors like Nikki’s Cupcakes.

The crowd can also enjoy face painting, games, and bouncy houses throughout the day.

Entertainment will be provided by various local performers, including the Philadelphia High School Band, soloists, Kemper County Band, Philadelphia Parish Dance Ministry, Taylor Jones Dance, and DJ Birdman.

Special guests Marlee Washington, Distinguished Young Woman and Miss Black Neshoba County, and Zyniyah Pickens, Little Miss Black Neshoba County, will be in attendance.

The event will also showcase winners from the recent PES Beauty and Beau Pageant held in March.

Among the winners were Beauty Kristina Townsend and Beau Noah Ellerby (Pre-K), Beauty Eli’Myr Anderson (first/second grade), Beauty Audrey Boler (third/fourth grade), Beauty Kholie Gill and Beau Jayden Haynes (fifth/sixth grade).

“Our event will be a fun-filled day for the entire family to enjoy, all while supporting a great cause,” organizers said.

Those interested in joining the Philadelphia Elementary PTO for the upcoming school year may contact the school directly or reach out to any PTO board member.

The PTO board includes Jesette Rush, Sandra Lyon, Kelly Little, Angel Coleman, and Brandy Jones.
