The Neshoba Central baseball team is off to a good start under first year coach Jonathan Jones.

"We still have a long way to go but we have had some good outings," Jones said. "We have played well against everyone but West Lauderdale. Our pitching and hitting has been getting better."

The Rockets swept two region games against Canton Monday (see next week's paper). They visit Canton on Friday and then play two games Saturday against Newton County and Northeast Lauderdale.

The Neshoba Central Rockets outhit Newton County 12-1 as they took a win over the Cougars.

The Rockets scored one in the first, six in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Dagan Martin was the winning pitcher. He allowed one hit and struck out four. Jacob Killens also pitcher.

Cade Hall hit a triple and a single. He scored two runs and knocked in another. Reid Hall had three hits. He scored one run and knocked in three. Bryceton Spencer had three hits and scored a run. Ramie Harrison had two hits. He scored one run and knocked in another. Clay Sanders scored two runs.





Neshoba Central 15

Louisville 0

The Rockets put this one away in the second inning as the run-ruled the Wildcats.

The Rockets scored one in the first, 12 in the second and two in the third.

Hayden Knight pitched three no-hit innings while striking out eight batters.

Bailey Cook hit a double. he scored two runs and knocked in three more. Ramie Harrison hit two doubles. He scored two runs and knocked in two more.

Clay Sanders, Reid Hall, Mark Hunt and EJ Wright all had one hit.

Newton County 6

A big fourth inning lifted the Rockets past the Newton County last Saturday.

Neshoba Central scored one in the first, eight in the fourth and two in the fifth, Newton County scored one in the first, three in the second, one in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Hayden Knight was the winning pitcher. He went four innings while striking out five and giving up three earned runs. Jacob Killen pitched two innings and recorded two strikeouts. Sanders pitched the final inning.

Ramie Harrison hit a double and a single. He scored a run and knocked in two more. Azaylon Hickmon hit a double while Clay Sanders had two hits. Sanders scored a run and knocked in two more.



West Lauderdale 10

Neshoba Central 1

The Knights outhit Neshoba Central 15-1 to take the win.

Clay Hall had the Rockets only hit.
