The Leake Academy girls opened district 2-5A play this week with a pair of blowout wins. 

The Rebelettes hammered Park Place 65-15 on Tuesday and then pounded Lamar School 75-36 on Friday. Leake then finished the week with a big 60-28 win over Jackson Prep. 

The Leake boys won both district games last week, beating Park Place 60-29 and Lamar 70-37. The Rebels lost a tight game to Jackson Prep 48-43 on Saturday. 

Leake only has one game this week as they play at East Rankin on Friday. 

Leake girls 65, 

Park Place 15

The Rebelettes dominated from the beginning and took a 50-point win over the Lady Crusaders on Tuesday.

Leake jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first period and outscored Park Place 15-3 in the second to lead 31-5 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead, outscoring Park Place 21-10 in the third and 13-0 in the fourth. 

Katye Jones led Leake with 11 points and four rebounds while Anna Morgan Young had nine points. Sara Prince had eight points while Jenna Allen seven points. Marleigh Myers had six points and four rebounds while Hannah Clark and Ella Bell each had four points apiece.

Leake boys 60, 

Park Place 29

After losing their district opener to Park Place last year, the Rebels weren’t going to let that happen again this season.

Leake doubled up Park Place in the first period, outscoring Park Place 14-7. Leake continued to pour it on, outscoring the Crusaders 20-11 to lead 34-18 at the half. Leake put the game away in the third period and outscored Park Place 20-2 to lead 54-20 going to the fourth. Park Place took the fourth period 8-6 for the final margin.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 23 points while Lucas Thomas had 11 points. Jake Freeny and Gage Warren each had five points apiece while Trey Clark and Jack Harkins each had four points apiece. 

Leake girls 75, Lamar 36

The Rebelettes outscored the Lady Raiders in every period and too a 39-point win on Friday night to stay unbeaten in district play. 

Leake doubled up Lamar in the first period, outscoring Lamar 16-8 in the first. Leake then outscored Lamar 20-7 in the second to lead 36-16 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead, outscoring Lamar 21-12 in the third and 18-9 in the fourth. 

Jenna Allen led Leake with a career-high 23 points  with five 3-points. Olivia Rudolph had 11 points and five rebounds while Katye Jones had nine points and eight rebounds. Anna Morgan Young had eight points while Sarah Prince and Codi Breedlove each had seven points apiece. 

Leake boys 70, Lamar 37

The Rebels outscored the Raiders in every period to pick up a second district win and take a 33-point win.

Leake started fast and outscored Lamar 19-4 in the first and 21-14 in the second to lead 40-18 at the half. Leake continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring Park Place 17-7 in the the third and 13-12 in the fourth. 

Samuel Prince led Leake with 18 points while Taite Edwards had 13 points. Jake Freeny had 11 points while Lucas Thomas had 10 points. Jack Harkins had seven points while Matthew Nowell chipped in five points. 

Leake girls 60, 

Jackson Prep 28

The Rebelettes used a big third period to pull away and take a 32-point win over the Lady Patriots. 

Leake held a slim 9-8 lead at the end of the first before outscoring Prep 18-10 to lead 27-18 at the half. Leake put the game away in the third, outscoring Prep 22-4 to take a 49-22 lead into the fourth. Leake took the fourth 11-6 to take the win.

Jenna Allen continued her strong play, leading Leake with 12 points and give rebounds while Anna Morgan Young had 12 points and three rebounds. Caroline Cheatham had nine points while Katye Jones had seven points and six rebounds. 

Jackson Prep boys 48, Leake 43

The Rebels started fast but couldn’t hold off the Patriots and dropped a five-point decision on Saturday. 

Leake started fast as they led 10-2 early in the first and 17-10 at the end of the first. Prep then outscored Leake 16-7 in the second period to lead 26-24 at the half. Each team scored 11 points in the third period as Prep led 37-35 going to the fourth. Leake took a late lead at 43-40 with two minutes left but Prep scored the last eight points of the game to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 18 points while Taite Edwards had seven points. Trey Clark and Jack Harkins each had five points apiece.
