Man wanted in severe beating arrested in Scott County

A Scott County man was arrested there on a warrant for domestic violence issued here after the victim was dropped off badly beaten at Neshoba General in August.

The man, Jonathan Daniel Webb, 32, who was hiding out in Scott County was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and contempt of court, according to Sheriff Eric Clark.

Webb was wanted for beating the mother of his child and dropping her off at Neshoba General Hospital in August of 2023. 

Webb was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 1, around 1:20 p.m. by Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies at a house on Old Jackson Road where authorities believe he was hiding out.

Clark said he had been in contact with Scott county auhtorities on this case and tha tthye had been looking for him for some time. Clark described Webb as “elusive.”

Clark said they had received anumber of anonymous tips and had been monitoring two residence in Scott County. They were Webb’s father’s house, where Webb was eventually arrested, and a house on East Second Avenue in downtown Morton.

Nehsoba County Sheriff’s Deputies picked Webb up and had him in local custody by 3:30 p.m.

Webb is awaiting a bond hearing, accoridng to Clark.

The initial call came in on Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. reporting a woman who had been badly beaten and was dropped off at Neshoba General, Clark said. Deputies determined the victim had been dropped off by the man who beat her who was identified as Webb.

Clark said Webb and the victim have a child together but he does not know the extent of their relationship.

The investigation believes the beating took place at the victim’s mother’s house in Neshoba County on Road 131 near the Newton County Line.

At the hospital, deputies recorded the victim’s injuries, which included severe bruising, a swelling in her left eye, and numerous marks and bruises on her arms and legs.

Clark said they were able to track Webb to Scott County after his vehicle was reported in a wreck that same day there. 

Clark said Scott County law enforcement does not currently have any charges on Webb but noted “they are very familiar with him.”
