Funeral services for Ms. Lois Marie Crawford were held at 2 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. John E. Stephens officiating. Interment was in Sandtown Cemetery. Visitation was 12 PM - 2 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at John E. Stephens Chapel.
Ms. Lois Marie Crawford was born on October 30, 1930, to W.E. “Buck” and Esther Townsend in the township of Pine Ridge, Monroe Co., AR but moved to MS at age 1 year. Ms. Crawford passed away on July 3, 2024, at Alcoa Pines Health and Rehabilitation in Benton, AR. She was the oldest of 4 children. She lived her childhood in Kemper and Neshoba Counties, primarily in the Sandtown Community. She graduated from Longino High School in Philadelphia, MS. She lived her adult life in Decatur, MS until 2022. For health reasons she moved to Benton, AR to be with her family. She was a member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, MS. She worked at Decatur Shirt Factory and Midland Shirt Factory, as a seamstress. She was well known for her delicious desserts, particularly her coconut cake. She enjoyed making them for family and friends and would make anyone’s favorite anytime one asked. Mrs. Crawford worked hard all of her life and enjoyed word search puzzles, working in her yard and feeding her hummingbirds. She loved her family, friends, and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents, W.E. “Buck” and Esther Townsend; husbands, James Williams and Rolf Crawford; special friend and companion, E.C. “Shorty” Huey; sisters, Jane Partin, Maxine Reynolds.
Survivors include daughters, Kay (David) Overcash of Gurnee, IL, Joyce (Chris) Poole of Benton, AR; 4 grandsons, Andrew (Andrea) Franklin, Brandon (Theresa) Franklin, Christopher Poole, Jr., Caleb (Amy) Poole; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Ross Townsend of Choctaw, MS; other family members; special nephews, James and Allen Martin; E.C. “Shorty” Huey family, Mark and Theresa Buntyn family, and her beloved cat, Gracie.
Special thanks to all the staff at Alcoa Pines Health and Rehabilitation and Elite Hospice for their care, love and kindness, especially Kendra, Robbie, Noah, Nate, Brandi, Donna, Miranda and Stacie.
