The Leake Academy basketball teams put up some big numbers over the Christmas break.

The Rebels won three games last week, beating Washington 66-25, Benton 82-40 and Amory Christian 102-61. 

The Rebelettes also had a big week, winning both games as they throttled Washington 82-16 and Kirk Academy 63-31.

The Leake girls improved to 18-3 on the season while the Rebels improved to 16-6. Leake will return to play as they travel to Oak Hill Academy on Tuesday and then travel to Wayne on Thursday to resume district play. Leake then has a big Friday night matchup with rival Simpson in Madden.

“We had a good run over Christmas break,” Leake boys coach Jason Morgan said. “We are starting to play even faster on offense to go along with what has been a solid defense all year. We are excited about some big district games coming up in January."

Leake boys 102, 

Amory Christian 61

The Rebels outscored the Lions in every period and broke the century mark for the first time this season while taking a 41-point win on Friday.

Leake led 21-9 at the end of the first and then outscored Amory 26-18 in the second to lead 47-27 at the half. Leake continued to pour it on in the second half as they outscored Amory 34-22 in the third and 21-12 in the fourth to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 22 points while Jack Harkins had 14 points. Matthew Nowell had 12 points while Gage Warren had 10 points. Trey Clark, Ben Jackson, Jake Freeny and Majure Chandler each had eight points apiece

Leake boys 82, Benton 40

The Rebels were strong in the middle two periods to pull away from the Raiders and take a 42-point win on Thursday at Columbus. 

Leake took a 23-16 lead in a competitive first period. But the Rebels then outscored the Raiders 29-4 in the second to take a 52-20 lead at the half. Leake got the clock running in the third period, outscoring Benton 18-8 to lead 70-28 going to the fourth, where each team scored 12 points apiece. 

Samuel Prince led Leake with 19 points while Jack Harkins and Nolan McCall had nine points apiece. Lucas Thomas had eight points while Gage Warren had seven points. Matthew Nowell had six points while Tate Edwards and Trey Clark each had five points apiece. 

Leake girls 63, Kirk 31

The Rebelettes dominated the first half and cruised to a 32-point win over the Lady Raiders on Friday at Columbus.

Leake came out and took a 19-7 lead in the first period and then outscored Kirk 25-4 in the second period to lead 44-11 at the half. Kirk took the third period 10-6 while Leake outscored the Lady Raiders 13-10 in the fourth to take the win.

Leake put nine players in the scoring column and were led by Jenna Allen with 16 points, three rebounds and three assists. Addie Crowe had 11 points while Katye Jones had nine points and six rebounds in her return. Marleigh Myers had six points and four rebounds while Anna Morgan Young also had six points. Sarah Prince, Olivia Rudolph and Hannah Clark each had four points apiece. 

Leake boys 66, 

Washington 25

The Rebels started fast and finished strong to cruise to a 41-point win over the Generals on Wednesday.

Leake led 14-9 at the end of the first and then outscored Washington 23-4 in the second to lead 37-13 at the half. Washington took the third period 10-9 to cut the lead to 46-23 going to the fourth. But the Rebels finished by outscoring Washington 20-2 to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 22 points while Trey Clark had nine points. Gage Warren and Matthew Nowell each had seven points apiece while Tate Edwards had six points and Ryals Wilkerson added five points. 

Leake girls 82, 

Washington 16

The Rebelettes showed no signs of rust from the Christmas holiday as they took a 66-point win over the Lady Generals on Wednesday at Canton.

Leake dominated from the beginning and outscored Washington 31-0 at the half. Leaek then outscored Washington 21-4 in the second and led 52-4 at the half. Leake continued to extend its lead in the second half and outscored Washington 16-8 in the third and 14-4 in the fourth.

Leake put 12 players in the scoring column and were led by junior Anna Morgan Young with 14 points. Ella Bell had 13 points while Olivia Rudolph and Sarah Prince each had 10 points apiece. Ella Grace Bennett had six points and six rebounds while Lauren Payne had six points. Lily McDonald had five points and led Leake with seven rebounds while Hannah Clark and Jenna Allen each had five points apiece.
