Lady Yellowjackets pick up wins in tight matchups on the court

The Union Lady Yellowjackets continued their strong play and came away with a pair of tight wins this past week. 

The Lady Yellowjackets took a 48-45 win over Enterprise on Tuesday and then took a tight 28-27 win over Sebastopol on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets also played a pair of tight games as the beat Enterprise 50-45 before falling 58-54 to Sebastopol in overtime. 

Union will return to action this week as they continue a five-game road stretch. Union will play at J.Z. George on Tuesday and at Philadelphia on Friday.

Union girls 28, 

Sebastopol 27

The Lady Yellowjackets held on to take a tough one-point win over the Lady Bobcats on Thursday. 

Union led 8-6 at the end of the first while Sebastopol took the second period 6-5 as the Lady Yellowjackets led 13-12 at the half. Each team scored seven in the third and eight in the fourth as Union held on to take the win.

Rymia Craft and Kylee Madden led Union with 10 points apiece.

Sebastopol boys 58, 

Union 54

The Bobcats needed overtime to take a four-point win over the Yellowjackets on Thursday.

Sebastopol built an early lead as they outscored Union 14-13 in the first and 15-11 in the second to lead 29-24 at the half. Union battled back in the second half, outscoring Sebastopol 9-8 in the third and 16-12 in the fourth to send the game into overtime. In the extra period, Sebastopol outscored Union 9-5 to take the win.

Kamarion Rushing led Union with a game-high 26 points while U’darrian Hickman had 14 points. Keon Hutchins also chipped in six points

Union girls 48, 

Enterprise 45

The Lady Yellowjackets were able to keep the Lady Bulldogs at bay as they took a three-point win on Tuesday.

Union led 16-15 at the end of the first but Enterprise outscored the Lady Yellowjackets 11-8 to take a 26-24 lead at the half. Union took the third period 7-6 to cut the lead to 32-31 going to the fourth. Union then outscored Enterprise 17-13 in the fourth to take the win.

Kylee Madden led Union with 12 points, seven assists, five rebounds along with two steals and two deflections. Gracyn Tillman had 12 points and four rebounds while Rymia Craft hd 10 points and four rebounds. Sydney Coward also had nine points. 

Union boys 50, 

Enterprise 45

The Yellowjackets overcame an early deficit and finished strong to take a five-point win over the Bulldogs.

Enterprise jumped out to a 13-7 lead in the first period and each team scored 13 in the second period as the Bulldogs led 26-20 at the half. Union outscored Enterprise 13-10 in the third to cut the lead to 36-33 going to the fourth. Union then outscored Enterprise 17-9 in the fourth to pull ahead and take the win.

U’darrian Hickman led Union with 17 points while Kamarion Rushing had 11 points. Keon Hutchins had eight points while Zi Buckley chipped in six points.
