Lady Yellowjackets battles past flu for victories

Posted

The Union Lady Yellowjackets got two different things this past week.

The Lady Yellowjackets got a good dose of the flu but also got a championship trophy at the J.C. Allen Tournament at Mize.

Union won four games this past week, opening with a 51-35 win over Enterprise on Tuesday. Union then beat Raleigh 54-44 on Thursday, Taylorsville 46-33 on Friday and Mize 50-31 on Saturday.

“This week, the flu hit our team,” Union coach Casey Madden said. “Throughout the week, we were missing players. Therefore, we had to make some adjustments. I am so proud of how some of my older players stepped up their leadership roles on the floor and how some younger, less experienced players stepped up to fill in the gaps. This week’s success was due to the good Lord allowing my girls to come together, even more so than ever before. And they played some great team ball. As always, it’s been a great week to be a Yellow Jacket.”
