Lady Warriors continue to win in region

The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors rolled up a couple of victories in prep basketball action last week.

The Lady Warriors defeated Louisville 63-42 and Kosciusko 73-38. The Lady Warriors stand at 13-3 overall and 5-0 in the Region 4-4A. They are ranked No. 2 in a state poll of Class 4-4A teams.

Choctaw Central led 30-14 at the half in their game with Union. Meloney Thames led with 20 points while Carly Keats scored 10.

Against Kosciusko, the Lady Warriors went up 44-21 at the half and held on for the win. Thames led with 11 points while Lyleonia Johnson, Madison Bell and Shantashia John all scored nine points each.

Choctaw Central boys

The Choctaw Central boys defeated Louisville 52-46 and lost a 56-43 decision to Kosciusko.

Traiton Martin scored 12 points and Thomas Tingle put in 10 points to lead Choctaw Central’s win over Louisville. Choctaw Central trailed 26-25 at the half, The Warriors outscored Louisville 12-6 om the third quarter and held on for the win.

Kosciusko went ahead in the second and third quarters and held on for the win. Hayden Jones led with 11 points and Speedy Lewis scored nine.

Choctaw Central was to play West Lauderdale on Tuesday and Leake Central Thursday.
