Lady Rockets pick up three victories, improve to 21-2

The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets took three victories as  the 2022 regular fast-pitch season winds down.

Neshoba Central has put together a 21-2 record as they head into the playoffs in search of their ninth state championship in a row. They were to close the season Tuesday at Wayne County.

The Lady Rockets blanked Southeast Lauderdale 10-0 last Tuesday. They battled past Lake 6-1 and on Monday, defeated West Lauderdale 7-5.

Neshoba Central outhit Southeast Lauderdale 15-3 to take the victory.

The Lady Rockets scored six in the first, one in the third and three in the sixth.

Mauhree Jones was the winning pitcher.

Charmayne Morris has a busy day at the plate as she hit a triple, a double and a single. She scored two runs and knocked in another. Hama’ya Field hit a double and as single. She scored one run and knocked in another. Jones hit a double and knocked in two runs. Miley Thomas hit a double and a single. She scored two runs and knocked in another.

Lannyah Henry struck out nine batters and allowed one run to pace the Lady Rockets past Lake.

Tenly Grisham hit a double, scored two runs and knocked in a RBI. Henry hit a double. Mya Willis hit a double and a single while scoring two runs. Morris has two hits and knocked in a run.

West Lauderdale 5

Sa’Nya Jackson doubled in a run in the seventh inning as the Lady Rockets broke a tie game to beat West Lauderdale.

Neshoba Central scored one in the second, one in the third, three in the sixth and two in the seventh. West Lauderdale scored one in the third and four in the fifth.

Henry started the game and struck out nine batters in five innings of work. Jones came in and pitched the final two games to pick up the victory.

Jackson had one hit, scored two runs and knocked in another. Grisham had one hit and scored two runs.
