Two Neshoba County juveniles have been detained in connection with an estimated $50,000 in damage to antique cars, tractors, trailers, and other machinery over the weekend.

According to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark, the two juveniles are 14 and being held in a detention facility awaiting a Youth Court hearing.

Deputies were dispatched mid-morning on Sunday, Sept. 8, to a call reporting vandalism at a residence on Road 541 northwest of Tucker.

They arrived to find multiple tractors, trucks, antique vehicles, and heavy equipment vandalized.

Clark said vehicles had tubes of grease spread over them, and the violators jumped on the hoods and windshields of the vehicles. He noted that most of the damage seemed to be focused on the broken glass.

“Deputies and investigators that responded to the scene stated that with a combined service time of over 50 years, they had never seen this kind of damage,” Clark said.

Clark said that before leaving, the juveniles took ignition keys and tossed them into nearby woods.

“Many of the vehicles were antique and irreplaceable,” Clark said.

Evidence at the scene led deputies to a local residence, where it was determined a suspect was living. He was soon detained, and later, another juvenile was picked up for questioning.

Clark said the two were detained within the first few hours of the investigation.
