Erika Sledge of Philadelphia recently graduated from Jackson State University with a Social Work degree. 

She plans to continue working at East MS State Hospital as a licensed social worker. She plans on pursuing her LCSW in two years and start a private practice in Philadelphia that specializes in women’s mental health. 

She wanted to become a social worker to empower others to pursue their dreams by overcoming life’s challenges. She is proud to be a Jackson State University graduate and follow in her grandmother, Vera Sledge’s, footsteps. Congratulations!

Elijah Ruffin of Philadelphia was selected for Northwest Mississippi Community College's President's List for the Spring 2024 semester. He was one of 760 full-time students who completed the semester with a grade point average of 3.75 to 4.0. He was also inducted into Northwest Mississippi Community College's Theta Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Congratulations!

The following students graduated from East Mississippi Community College last month as part of the Class of 2024. From Choctaw was Leslie Fuller. From Philadelphia were Ronnie Anderson, Layla Carter, Andreas Jim, Zoe Kirkland, Zackary Long, Grace Maxey, Hunter McWilliams, Dexter Spencer, Katie Sprinkle, Sydney Watkins, Latavia Whigham, Mary Williams, and Damon Witcher. Congratulations!

Retirement Ceremonies were held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Scott U.S. Airforce Base, Illinois at 10:08 AM. CMSgt Arie L. Latimer is a graduate of Meridian High School with an expansion of other educational accomplishments.

Arie is the son of Joe H. Latimer, Senior, Carrie Hoskins and Irma. Grandson of Henry and Effie Latimer and Robert and Maggie Hoskins.

Thanks to him for the major services to his country!

Edwin Lewis Carter of Philadelphia, successfully completed four years of challenging academic, physical and professional military training, graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and a commission as a Ensign. He is a graduate of Neshoba Central High School. At the academy, Carter was a member of the Midshipman Orchestra and the YP Squadron. Way to go Edwin!
