Just Among Friends

The Philadelphia High School Band finished the school year with a flourish. The band received the prestigious award for Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Percussion at the 2024 Band Festival hosted by East Central Community College. Congratulations to this talented group of musicians and their director!

Cheers to 25 Years! Phillip and Valeria Prince celebrated this milestone wedding anniversary on May 15. Phillip praised his wife and said they had never fought in all those years. They are also raising their beautiful children, who will be contributing members of society. Congratulations!

  A “Sprinkle Shower” was held last Sunday in the church parlor at the First Methodist Church to honor Macy Martin Rhodes. 

The guests brought gifts with love for the new baby arriving soon. Punch and a delectable cake were served to those attending who enjoyed watching her open her gifts. Then a very pleasant time of visiting added to the fun.

The invitation read, “Jhaun’s 40th Surprise Party at 4S Steak House. Please arrive to Party Room by 6:00 PM.” Jhaun said the family turned their normal birthday supper into something special and totally surprised her, which is very hard to do!  It was a fun-filled evening with all of her family together. Happy Birthday, and best wishes for the next year!

Happy Anniversary to Randy and Sharon DeWeese, who celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary on June 3! The couple has many shared interests, and their grandchildren add an extra fillip of enjoyment to their retired years. I hope for many more happy years together.

Three incoming Seniors at Leake Academy, Hayden Jenkins, Pete Peebles, and Hagan Bobo, spent a fantastic week at Boys State at the University of Mississippi. This annual event is sponsored by the American Legion Post #168. We are so thankful that they offer this very special opportunity for our youth to learn how our government works. Congratulations!
