Hilda Cheatham

Graveside services for Ms. Hilda Cheatham were held Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 1 pm, at Cedarlawn Cemetery with Rev. Byron Howell officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Hilda Frances Laney Cheatham of Philadelphia MS departed this life on May 18, 2024, at the age of 91. She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had worked at Clark’s department store where she worked her way up to the position of manager.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert (Bobby) Cheatham; parents, Lamar and Emma Laney; sister, Dorothy Thrasher; brothers, Rudolph and Rudon Laney; grandson, Blake Tidwell; and one son-in-law, George Tidwell. 

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Tidwell; son, Robert “Rock” (Nancy) Cheatham; seven grandchildren;14 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
