It's official.

Philadelphia High School's Lideatrick "Tulu" Griffin has signed college football at Mississippi State University.

"I was ready to get this recruiting stuff over with so I can focus on what I need to do," Griffin said on signing day. "I am going to focus on myself and focus on my career and stay healthy."

Griffin signed during the early national signing date earlier this month at the Philadelphia High School library. He was joined by his family, friends, teammates and his fellow classmates for the occasion.

The 5-10, 170-pounder signed to play slot receiver and kickoff return specialist. During his years at Philadelphia High School, Griffin played both ways, also making his presence known at defensive back.

Griffin helped to lead the Philadelphia Tornadoes to a 12-2 record and the third round of the Class 2A state football playoffs. He played in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game in December.

"It was a fun experience. I got to meet new people and met some people will be playing with at Mississippi State," Griffin said. "It was a great win. When they blocked the extra point (in overtime), it was really something."

Griffin missed some action during the season because of an ankle injury. At the start of all-star practice, five players had to drop out because of injuries but Griffin said he was ready to play.

"It's better," Griffin said. "I would say I was at about 85 percent and was able to play. Now I need to get it well."

Griffin has also been selected to play in the 2020 Under Armour All-America football game on Thursday in Orlando, Fla. The game is being advertised for having the top 100 high school players in the nation competing along with the best coaches, players and gear in the game. Many current and past players who made it to the NFL have played in this game. The game will be shown on ESPN2.

"It will be a good experience," Griffin said. "It will be good to play on ESPN and get a little exposure."

Griffin's signing class was ranked No. 24 in the national by some media and 11th in the SEC. He made his official visit to Mississippi State on December 6.
