Two Carthage men were arrested with drugs during a traffic stop on Highway 16 West just past the Pearl River Resort last month.

The driver, Kilies Huffman, 47, 265 Chipley Road, Carthage, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, DUI, possession of paraphernalia, no insurance and driving under a suspended license, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

His passenger, Willie Cuse Reeves, 40, 295 Ball Run Road, Carthage, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and littering, according to Clark.

Deputies first encountered the two men on Aug. 29 at about 4 a.m. when they made a traffic stop on a Mazda Tribute.

Clark said the car smelled of marijuana and Huffman, the driver, had no driver’s license. While questioning the driver, a deputy noticed the passenger attempting to throw something out of the window.

A search of the area revealed a small bag containing what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine. Reeves was charged with littering for trying attempting to throw the drugs out of the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle found a small black container with a rock-like substance inside. Clark said deputies were unable to identify the substance on the scene, and it had been sent to the state crime lab for testing. Clark said the substance is believed to be either crack cocaine or crystal meth and will be a felony amount of either drug.
