Woman, unborn child die in Tuesday wreck

A Philadelphia woman and her unborn child died in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 15 south that sent two others to the hospital, the authorities said.

Kobie Wesley, 20, of Bogue Chitto and her unborn child died in the crash and were pronounced dead on the scene, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Jameka Moore.

“If y’all knew Kobie Wesley y’all knew she always had a smile on her face,” Ashlie Nicole posted on Facebook. “Prayers for her momma.”

Two other passengers, Haily Jefferson and Jerinell Jefferson, received moderate injuries and were transported to Choctaw Health Center.

A 2016 Toyota Camry driven by Wesley was northbound when the car left the road and hit a tree, the MHP said.

The accident was reported at 3:31 p.m. near the intersection of Road 438.

“This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol,” Moore
said.
