After a close first half, the Bay Springs offense got to rolling in the third quarter as the Bulldogs took a 50-20 win over Choctaw Central last Thursday night in prep football action.

Choctaw Central, now 0-5, will be open this week. The Warriors will celebrate homecoming October 6 when they open region play against Newton County. Bay Springs improves to 4-1 and will visit Scott Central this Friday night.

The Warriors struck first on a 55-yard TD pass play from quarterback Cooper Wesley to Taijon Dixon. Christian Davis kicked the extra point and the Warriors led 7-0.

Bay Springs came back with a touchdown to make the score 7-6. Then in the second quarter, the Warriors added to their lead when Wesley found Keyshawn Ben on a 20-yard TD pass. The kick was good and the Warriors went up 14-6.

Bay Springs scored twice before the half and led 20-14 at the intermission.

The Bulldogs came on strong in the second half to add 30 points to their total. Choctaw Central’s final score came when Ben caught a 30-yard TD pass from Wesley.

“The third quarter was a bad memory,” Coach Ed Routh said. “We made adjustments at halftime and they made adjustments. Their adjustments were better.”

Jordan Vaughn was the Warriors’ leading rusher with 54 yards. Wesley passed for 164 yards. Ben had seven catches for 102 yards. Malaki Morris had several tackles for losses.
