Funeral service for Mr. Walter Lavon “Butch” Smith was held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at John E. Stephens Chapel. Rev. John E. Stephens and Bro. George Sciple officiated. John E. Stephens Chapel in charge.

Butch, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Laird Hospital. He lived in Kemper County all of his life. He was a business owner and enjoyed spending time with family, horse racing, fair and friends. He was Baptist.

Preceded in death: Parents, Otis Lavon Smith, Mavis Smith Tew; Best friend, Mavis Smith; Brothers, James Harold Smith, Charlie Flint Smith.

Survivors: Daughters, Wendy Smith Moore (Larry), Kim Smith Page (Joe), Melinda Smith Gilmer (Kerry), Mallory Smith Moorehead (Garrett); Sons, Terry Smith (Wendy), Tyson Smith (Ashley); (13) Grandchildren; Fiance’, Kailey Cahoon and children; Several nieces, nephews.

Pallbearers: Colby Horton, Cooper Smith, Walker Smith, Caleb Smith, Larry Moore, Joe Page, Kerry Gilmer, Garrett Moorehead, William Moorehead.
