Velma "Duck" Ruth Yates

Funeral service for Ms. Velma "Duck" Ruth Yates was held 2 PM Saturday, July 16, 2022, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Ron Cooper officiating. Interment in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Yates, 83, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at her home in Union, MS. She lived most of her life in Meridian, MS but lived in Neshoba Co. the last six years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Meridian. Her hobbies were embroidering, watching westerns, and crossword puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Monroe Yates, Ludie Goforth Yates; stepmother, Virgie Mae Yates; sisters, Hazel Pinson, Erma Redd, Bonnie Russell, Bernice Keen, Shirley Morgan; brothers, Charles Bufford Yates, Charles Everette Yates.

Survivors include her niece-caregiver, Diane and Tommy Beech; stepsisters, Nancy Anderson, Doris Alderman; brother, Chas Yates, stepbrothers, Bobby Joe Richards, Bud Richards and several nieces and nephews.
