Union Lady Yellowjackets win 2 games in Kosciusko

The Union Lady Yellowjackets got over the .500 mark last week with a pair of wins in the Kosciusko Tournament.

Union opened the week with an 11-2 win over Nanih Waiya and then beat Ethel 8-2.

Union was schedule to begin division play with a two-game series with Newton but those games have been postponed.

The Lady Yellowjackets scored in every inning but one to take a nine-run win over the Lady Warriors on Monday at Kosciusko.

Each team scored two runs in the first inning before Union started to build a lead. The Lady Yellowjackets scored one in the second and fourth, two in the third and sixth and three in the seventh.

Union outhit Nanih Waiya 8-3 in the contest. Britili Cleveland was 2-for-2 and had three RBIs while Tiara Campbell singled and drove in two runs. Jordan Turner walked three times and scored a run while DaShayla Jackson singled and drove in two runs. Dallas Brown tripled and scored twice while Tysia Jackson also scored two runs and had two stolen bases.

Cleveland started in the circle and pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven to pick up the win.

Ethel 2

The Lady Yellowjackets used a four-run fourth inning to take a five-inning, time-limit win over the Lady Tigers on Monday.

Union scored single runs in the second and third before adding four in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Union had seven hits and held Ethel to one. Tiara Campbell was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs while Kayleigh Vance was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. DaShayla Jackson was 2-for-4 and scored two runs while Anna Grace Blount, Dallas Brown and Alan Wheeler each drew two walks.

Wheeler started in the circle for Union, giving up two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out nine to pick up the win.
