This column may get completely crowded out of the paper this week with so much going on which the people are interested in. This issue is not carrying the kind of news we like to print, but as we have said in the past, we don’t make the news, we just print it.

It’s unfortunate that our dairy week program, hospitality week and Miss Philadelphia program had to come right on the heels of all this strife.

Sheriff Lawrence Rainey has pleaded for cooperation among all our citizens, but we want to add our words of caution. We hope the citizens here give every bit of help they possibly can, but hope they remain calm and collected talking to the many visiting personalities to our city. You may feel the urge to let your temper go, but restrain yourself and remember many of them are merely trying to do their job.

If this editor has been asked his opinion once on this matter at hand, he has been asked umpteen dozen times by visiting newsmen from all over the nation. I try to be just as honest with them as possible, and their ideas coincide with mine in many instances.

Our suggestion for the dairy products recipe contest Saturday afternoon in the courthouse is to give the finished dish to our many visitors here. It may show them we do eat something besides corn pone and turnip greens, some of which I wish I could have for dinner today.
