Rockets baseball team loses close one to Ethel, blasts Choctaw

The Neshoba Central baseball team split a pair of games last week and came into this week with a 7-2 record.

The Rockets dropped a 9-8 decision to Ethel and then defeated Choctaw County, 9-3.

The Rockets were to play three games this week, weather permitting. They were scheduled to play Taylorsville and Brandon Tuesday and host Newton County on Friday.

Ethel scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to break open a tie game and claim the victory.

The Rockets scored one in the first, two in the third and five in the sixth. Ethel answered with three in the second, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Bryceton Spencer took the pitching loss in relief.

Reid Hall hit a home run, a triple and a double. He scored three runs and knocked in three more. Demarkez West hit a home run and a single, and scored two runs. Jordan Davis had two hits while scoring one run and knocking in another. R.B. Hardin had two hits and knocked in a run while Brayden Reynolds had two hits and scored one run.

Choctaw County 3

The Rockets outhit Choctaw County  11-3 as they claimed the victory.

Neshoba Central scored three in the first, one in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Choctaw County scored two in the third and one in the seventh.

Reid Hall was the winning pitcher. In four innings he recorded five strikeouts.

Hardin hit a home run and a single. He scored two runs and knocked in another. Davis hit a triple and scored two runs. Spencer had two hits. He scored one run and knocked in two more. Pepper Agent had two hits and scored twice in the game.
