Rockets baseball picks up 3 wins

The Neshoba Central Rockets baseball team swept their competition last week, picking up three wins on the season. 

The Rockets picked up the first win last week, outlasting the the West Lauderdale Knights in a nailbiter on the Knights campus to take home a 6-5 win. The Knights struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first, one run in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth.  

Ryder White started on the mound for the Rockets going 5.1 innings giving up 7 hits, 5 runs, one base on balls and 3 strike outs. J.P. Hancock came on to finish the contest earning the save pitching 3.2 innings giving up only one hit with five strike outs.  

Big plays came from Catcher R B Hardin who was a wall behind the plate all night to go along with a double in the top of the ninth with no outs. This double and two walks got the bases loaded and Will Williams scored on a pass ball to seal the win for the Rockets. 

On Thursday, the Rockets dispatched the Choctaw Central Warriors 12-1. 

The Rockets scored first and never looked back taking home the win on a nice evening at Choctaw Central. 

Sam Killens started on the mound for the Rockets to earn the win. He allowed two hits and one unearned run over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Xavier Ben came on in relief to close out the game.  

The Rockets accumulated 12 hits in the game. Sanders Griffis and  RB Hardin each collected two hits for the rockets.  The rockets stole four bases for the night led by Jalyas Winters with two. The Rockets also turned three double plays to turn back the Warriors.   

On Friday, the Rockets defeated the Pearl Pirates 12-4 as they scored early and often during the contest to capture the win.

Griffis earned the win for the Rockets, striking out 7, walking 3 and giving up two hits for one run over five innings.  Williams entered the game in the top of the fifth to close out the game.

The rockets piled up twelve hits in the game. Williams went three for four at the plate, Jalyas Winters and J P Hancock collected two hits each. Jordan Davis, RB Hardin, Demakez West, Espn Jackson and Caleb Thames all had one hit apiece The Rockets ran wild on the bases paths, accumulating seven stolen bases for the contest.
