“A Rocket Christmas Extravaganza,” set for Saturday, Nov. 2, promises a day of fun with food, arts and crafts, games, a 5K run, car show and photos with Santa.

The outdoor Extravaganza will be in the parking lot of Neshoba County Schools from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to the public. Visitors are encouraged to park on Rocket Drive or near the band hall for easy access.

LeAnna Linkins, the event’s chairperson, said the idea originated with the Neshoba Central Middle School Beta Club but quickly expanded to the high school and elementary school with numerous clubs and organizations joining in to make it even bigger.

The Parent-Teacher Organization will manage the 5K run while Student Council will oversee the car show with trophies handcrafted by social studies teacher Aaron Wallace.

B&G Equipment, Philadelphia Utilities and Neshoba General Hospital will participate in “Touch a Truck” where children can explore various vehicles like bucket trucks and an ambulance for a small fee.

More than 50 vendors are expected, offering a wide variety of items such as boutique clothing and accessories, food, coffee, lemonade, goat milk products, candles, trucker caps, Choctaw beading and much more.

Neshoba Central Middle School Principal Jacob Drury expressed his excitement, describing the event as a community showcase.

“We want the community to see what our kids do and how they represent our school,” he said.

Linkins agreed, emphasizing that many of the schools’ clubs will host fundraisers during the Extravaganza.

“It’s a great way to bring the community in to support their efforts,” she said.

“This will also be a great opportunity for the general public to see our kids performing as the Neshoba Central bands, chorus, dance team and cheerleaders will showcase their talents,” Linkins said.

The Future Business Leaders of America group will head up pictures with Santa for a small fee.

Over 50 vendors from Philadelphia, Starkville, Columbus and beyond will be in attendance, including popular favorites like Munchies N More, Point Blank Grilling, Indian Tacos, Fair City Sweets and Harris Family Bakery.

“Come Christmas shop early and enjoy a day supporting our schools,” Linkins said.
