Rebelettes record 2 blowout wins on the court

The Leake Academy girls rebounded from their first loss of the season to take two blowout wins last week.

The Rebelettes hammered Brookhaven in a rematch of last year’s 5A title game and also pounded Copiah 57-26. 

The Rebels split a pair of contests, beating Brookhaven 64-30 on Monday but losing to Copiah 45-38 on Tuesday at the East Ranking Thanksgiving Tournament.

Leake will return from the Thanksgiving break as they host Hartfield on Tuesday and travel to Pillow on Thursday. 

Leake girls 72, 

Brookhaven 49

The Rebelettes started fast and finished strong to take a 23-point win over the Lady Cougars on Tuesday.

Leake dominated the first half as they outscored Brookhaven 21-13 in the first and 15-10 in the second to lead 36-23 at the half. Brookhaven cut into Leake’s lead in the third period, outscoring the Rebelettes 17-14 to cut the margin to 50-40 going to the fourth. But Leake pulled away and outscored Brookhaven 22-9 to take the win.

Jenna Allen came off the bench to lead the Rebelettes with 17 points and four rebounds. Olivia Rudolph had 15 points and six rebounds while Marleigh Myers had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Ella Bell had nine points while Sara Prince had eight points and four assists. Caroline Cheatham also chipped in six points while Lilly McDonald pulled down five rebounds and had three assists. 

Leake girls 57, 

Copiah Academy 26

The Rebelettes dominated three of the four periods and cruised to a 31-point win over the Lady Colonels on Monday.

Katye Jones led Leake with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Jenna Allen had eight points and six rebounds. Caroline Cheatham had six points and four rebounds while Abigail Graham had six rebounds. Olivia Rudolph had five points, six rebounds and two steals while Addie Crowe had five points. Sarah Prince had three points and three steals while Anna Morgan Young and Ella Bell each had three points. 

Leake boys 64, 

Brookhaven 30

The Revels outscored the Cougars in every period and cruised to a 34-point win on Monday. 

Samuel Prince led Leake with 16 points while Gage Warren had nine points. Matthew Nowell had eight points while Lucas Thomas and Ben Jackson each had six points apiece as 12 Rebels scored in the contest. 

Copiah boys 45, Leake 38

The Colonels avenged an early season loss to the Rebels as they took a seven-point win Tuesday. 

Copiah used narrow margins in each period to gradually pull away. Copiah outscored Leake 16-15 in the first and 6-4 in the second to lead 22-19 at the half. Copiah then outscored Leake 13-11 in the third and 10-8 in the fourth to take the win.

Samuel Prince led Leake with 12 points while Jack Harkins had nine points. Tate Edwards and Gage Warren each had five points.
