Make-A-Wish golf tournament Sept. 8 at Country Club

The second annual Wish Upon A Par golf tournament, which benefits Make-A-Wish Mississippi, is scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Philadelphia Country Club.

It is a two-man scramble tournament consisting of 36 teams that will tee off at 12:45 p.m. with a shotgun start.

Golfers are required to bring their own cart to the tournament and flight winners will have the opportunity to win door prizes to split with their partner when play ends.

After the success from last year, tournament organizers are hoping to make the golf tournament a Neshoba County tradition for years to come.

The committee is made up of Kirk Morgan, Heath Stribling, Eric Prince, Bob Posey, Ken Edwards, Stacy Clark, and Stacey O’Neal.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Make-A-Wish Mississippi chapter.

“Make-A-Wish is phenomenal, not just for the kids, but for the families to experience something together. When you have a child with special needs, to be able to ask them what their wish would be is an absolute blessing,” said O’Neal.

The tournament will be a day of fun and fellowship enjoyed by sponsors, players, and wish families with an immediate impact on the Make-A-Wish Mississippi mission and help raise funds in the Neshoba County area to help grant more wishes to children in our community.

“We want our golf tournament experience to be something that is different, worthwhile, and meaningful,” said Kirk Morgan. “We want to make an impact and take care of our locals and areas around us when we can.”

Hole No. 17 will be dedicated to Stan Webb who recently passed away in late June. Webb was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Philadelphia Country Club, so to honor his memory, the committee will be placing a nicely decorated easel in remembrance of the late golfer on his favorite hole on the course.

Pamela Hunter will bring food to the country club in her “Pam Bam’s Famous Soul Food” truck for golfers and guests to enjoy and Allen Hardy will liven the atmosphere with DJ music before the tournament begins.
