The Union Lady Yellowjackets added two more wins to their already impressive total while the Yellowjackets were able to grab win No. 2 on the season.

The Lady Yellowjackets swept through a pair of Division 5-3A opponents, beating Clarkdale 60-30 and Forest 36-23.

The Lady Yellowjackets are ranked No. 2 in a statewide ranking of Class 3A girls basketball teams.

The Yellowjackets lost 59-33 to Clarkdale but bounced back and took a 42-41 win over Forest on Friday night.

Union will return to play this week with a pair of road games as they will travel to Enterprise on Tuesday and Southeast Lauderdale on Friday. They will finish out the regular season the following week as they host Morton on Tuesday, Feb. 1 and then finish with Clarkdale on Thursday, Feb. 3 for Senior nigh.

The Lady Yellowjackets jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 30-point win over the Lady Bulldogs in division play.

Union started fast as they led 18-3 at the end of the first and each team scored 10 in the second period as Union led 28-13 at the half. Union put the game away in the third, outscoring Clarkdale 21-7 to take a 49-20 lead into the fourth. Union also took the fourth period 11-10 for the final margin.

Kamiya Russell led Union with 24 points while Georgia Cooper had 12 points. Keirra Russell had nine points and Anna Shaw added six points.

Keon Hutchins led Union with 10 points while Udarion Hickmon had nine points and Zie Buckley chipped in five.

Forest 23

The Lady Yellowjackets overcame a slow start and pulled away in the fourth to take a 13-point win over the Lady Bearcats in division play last week.

Forest led 8-3 at the end of the first and 12-8 at the half. But Union got going in the second half as they outscored Forest 12-7 in the third and took a 20-19 lead into the fourth. Union then outscored Forest 16-4 in the fourth to take the win.

Keirra Russell led Union with 26 points while Kamiya Russell had six points.

The Yellowjackets got their second win of the season as they took a thrilling one-point win over the Bearcats. 

Cameron Hickmon led Union with 12 points while William Hughlett had 10 points. Udarion Hickmon and Zie Buckley each had six points apiece.
