Lady Rockets 7-0 after Germantown

The Neshoba Central Lady Rockets entered the week with a 7-0 record after scoring a big win over Germantown last Tuesday.

The Neshoba Central boys dropped a 53-48 decision to Germantown. Both teams were to be back in action Tuesday when they hosted Choctaw Central. That will be their only game of the week.

The Neshoba Central girls broke a tie game in the fourth quarter as they defeated Germantown on Tuesday.

The Lady Rockets led 17-9 after the first quarter. However, Germantown battled back, outscoring the Lady Rockets 15-13 in the second quarter. At the half, the Lady Rockets led 30-24.

Germantown came out hot in the third quarter as they outscored Neshoba Central 22-16 in the third quarter to tie the game at 46-46. The Lady Rockets outpointed Germantown 18-14 in the final eight minutes to claim the win. Carly Keets and Shaylynn Hunter both scored 18 points, while Hama’ya Fielder scored 12.

In an earlier game, Fielder scored 31 points to lead the Lady Rockets past Leake Central.

The Lady Rockets led 17-9 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Neshoba Central outscored the Lady Gators 18-16 to go up 35-25 at the half.

Neshoba Central continued to widen its lead. They outscored Leake Central 26-21 and carried a 61-42 lead into the final quarter. They outscored Leake Central 21-17 to take the win.

Carly Keets added 22 points for the Lady Rockets.

The Neshoba Central boys came on strong in the fourth quarter but fell short in their game with Germantown.

The Mavericks went up 17-9 at the end of the first quarter. Germantown outscored Neshoba Central 10-9 in the second quarter and led 27-18 at the half. Both teams scored 13 points in the third quarter. Trailing 41-29 at the start of the fourth quarter, Neshoba Central would outscore the Mavericks 19-12 in the final 8 minutes.

Patsden Williams led the Rockets with 13 points.
