Lady Rebels lose to Simpson

The Leake Academy Lady Rebels only got in one game last week and dropped a district contest to Simpson County Academy.

The Lady Rebels committed eight errors and gave up seven unearned runs in an 8-2 loss to Simpson.

Leake was scheduled to play at Park Place on Monday and host East Rankin on Tuesday. They will finish out the regular season next week as they play at Clinton Christina on Monday and host MRA on Tuesday.

The North 5A Tournament will be on Saturday, Sept. 28 and Monday, Sept. 30 at Magnolia Heights.

Simpson 8, Leake 2

The Lady Cougars overcome an early deficit to pull away and take a six-run win over the Lady Rebels on Monday.

Leake scored one in the first while Simpson answered with two in the third and three in the fourth. Each team scored a single run in the sixth while Simpson finished with two in the seventh.

Simpson outhit Leake 8-3 but the Lady Rebels committed eight errors.

Lilly McDonald was 2-for-3, scored a run and had an RBI while Marleigh Myers also singled for Leake. Kylee Boykin scored Leake’s other run.

Raylee Quick started in the circle and gave up six runs on seven hits and four walks with only one being earned. Boykin pitched the last inning and gave up two unearned runs on one hit and one walk.
