John A. Ellingburg, 66, of Zama community passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Visitation is 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Jordan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. from the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Rev. Kenny Gentry will officiate the services. 

John was born and raised in Neshoba County to George Leslie and Erna Jessie Peebles Ellingburg. He was a shop foreman at Stribling Equipment in Philadelphia for nearly 25 years before retirement.  John was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and Fire Chief of the Zama Volunteer Fire Department where he loved serving his community. He loved anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of Cane Creek Outdoor Club. 

John is survived by his wife, Sharon Ellingburg of Zama, Mississippi; sons, Dalton (Aly) Ellingburg of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and David (Jennifer) Breazeale of Starkville, Mississippi; daughter, Laurel Leigh (Sam) Bell of Zama community; brother-in-law, Donny (Sandi) Breazeale of Zama community; granddaughter, Ava Bell, and beloved grand dog Rebel. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Leslie Ellingburg and Erna Peebles Ellingburg, 

Serving as pallbearers are Donny Breazeale, Thomas Lillis, Bob Lee Myers, William King, Brian Myers, and John Hudgins. Serving as honorary pallbearers are John Henry Gentry, Charles Hobson, and Chad Fortune.
