A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged with a burglary he allegedly committed while mowing someone’s yard.

According to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark, the man, James Dylan Burkeen, 30, 432 Center Avenue, was arrested and charged with burglary.

Deputies first encountered Burkeen when he was pulled over on West Main Street near the Philadelphia Fluff and Fold after the vehicle he was driving, a 2017 Nissan Rogue, was spotted on Flock license plate readers in the city on July 11 at about 8 p.m., Clark said.

According to Clark, Burkeen was identified as a suspect in a burglary reported at a residence on Road 781 earlier that day. Clark said the homeowner reported a miter saw had been taken from his property at about 5:40 p.m. The homeowner mentioned that Burkeen had helped a man mow his lawn earlier that day.

Clark said the homeowner had Burkeen on video rummaging through the shed.

Burkeen had reportedly traded the miter saw for a chainsaw and then pawned the chainsaw for $80 in Meridian.

Clark said Burkeen will also likely face charges in Meridian related to the incident.
