James “Yogi” Edward York

Graveside service for Mr. James “Yogi” Edward York was held at 10 AM Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Oak Ridge Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Jones officiating. John E. Stephens Chapel in charge.

Mr. York, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Neshoba General Hospital. He lived in Neshoba County all of his life. He worked at Weyerhaeuser 22 years and was a member of Philadelphia Church of God. He loved playing with his grandchildren, playing his harmonica and watching television, especially westerns.

Preceded in death: Parents, Nealy and Colelia Allen; Daughter, Teresa Jane Monk; Grandson, James Michael Grainger; Great-Granddaughter, Mia Monk.

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Maxine Ladd York; Daughters, Sarah Lynn Gardner and Sharlyne Grainger; Sister, Josephine Pugh; Brother, Buddy Allen; (8) Grandchildren; (14) Great-Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Timothy Grainger, Joseph Grainger, Nelson Tarvin, Joey Monk, Matthew Sullivan and Daniel Griffin.
