Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rush of Camp Shelby announce the birth of a little daughter on March 13, whom they have named Margaret Cornelia.

Miss Kathleen Stribling, member of the Meridian City School faculty, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Stribling.       

                

March 26, 1953

Carrying out the tradition “that an army travels on its stomach”, Sgt. Hugh Wolverton and his assistants, gave a full-dress rehearsal of meal-serving to Gen. Pat Wilson and members of HQ & HQ Company 750th Tank Batallion a few nights ago at the local Armory.

Miss Charlene Peebles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Peebles, who is a junior at MSCW has recently been elected to the presidency of the Civic League there3 which is one of the top honors to be given a student at the college.     

       

     March 28 1963   

The Neshoba County Junior 4-H Dairy Judging Team capped top honors in the district contest at Forest.  Team members Buddy Fanning, Zephyr Hill, Roy White, Hope; Jeff Bryan, Bond; and James More, Hope. 

Miss Kay Fulton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Fulton, and student at E.C.J.C. was recently selected to represent her college in Glamour Magazine’s Contest for best dressed co ed 1963. 

March 29, 1973

Some of the approximately 300 school students are shown here at the courthouse prior to walking 15 miles for the March of Dimes Saturday morning.

On Sunday, March 4, the family of J. R. (Bob) Dees gathered at his home to celebrate his 96th birthday and the 64th birthday of his son, Alonzo Dees.                           

March 30, 1983

Shandra Latrice Moore, daughter of Mrs. Lillie Moore and the late Jimmy Moore, celebrated her second birthday Feb. 18.  She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Moore. 

The yard of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson on Holland Avenue has been named yard of the month by the Home Arts Club.

March 31, 1993 

Jessica Lane Luke celebrated her first birthday recently with a party at Northside Park with family and friends.  She is the daughter of Chuck and Betty Luke.  Grandparents are Donald and Ruth Luke, Raeburn and Eloise Lane, and Dois and Carol Gilmore. Great-grandparents are Vernmon and Edna Rosamond, Grady and Zola Lane and Vesta Chisolm.  

      

March 26, 2003

Gayle Lesley, art instructor at Neshoba Central High School and Neshoba Central Middle School, accepts an art supply check from Alene Griffith, Arts Special Projects chairman for GFWC-MFWC Futura Club. The donation is part of Futura’s annual art in schools program.

Kevin Hemphill, son of Jammy Hemphill, was the overall winner of the annual Neshoba County Spelling Bee held on Feb. 24 at Neshoba Central Elementary. This is his second consecutive victory.  He will compete today in the State Spelling Bee at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson.   

             

March 27, 2013

Emma Kate Thornton, 7, donated 10 inches of hair to “Locks of Love” in memory of her grandfather, William Pigg.  She is the daughter of Josh and Tanya Thornton. 

Logan Nowell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Nowell, placed first in 8-9 year old showmanship at the Dixie Nationals Junior Roundup held recently in Jackson.
