Graveside services for E. Harold Keyes will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Magnolia Cemetery with Jimmy Keyes officiating, interment to follow. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. E. Harold Keyes, age 95 of Meridian passed away peacefully Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Bedford Care of Marion under the care of Compassus Hospice.

Harold was an avid Mississippi State Bulldog fan! He was passionate about his work with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians where he served as a social worker for over 30 years. After retiring from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, he was the Director of the Social Work Program at Mississippi State University Meridian Branch. Upon retirement from Mississippi State University, he was awarded the title Professor Emeritus. He enjoyed running, cycling, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Survivors include his children, Marilyn K. Bell (Gary), Jimmy Keyes (Debbie), Allen Keyes (Frank), and Judy K. Cook (Bill); grandchildren, William D. Sharpe, Mitchell Cook, Mac Cook, Jacob Bell (Stephanie), Daniel Winstead (Brittany), and Bo Winstead (Sara); great-grandchildren, Anna Sharpe, Mary Sharpe, Finn Winstead, Jack Winstead, Aubrey Bell, Zoey Bell, Breeana Winstead, Braiden Winstead, Alana Dulworth (Mitchell), and Alysa Fields; sister, Emily Alger (Bill); special family friend, Teresa Scott; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife Martha Ann Brunson Keyes; parents, John and Mabel Keyes; siblings, Dr. Prentiss Keyes, Johnny Keyes, Nell K. Wright, Betty Jean K. Barber, Mary Alice K. Skelton, and Cecila K. Woodham.

Pallbearers will be William Sharpe, Mitchell Cook, Mac Cook, Daniel Winstead, Bo Winstead, Frank Cagle, Jr., and Danny Hall.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Harry Carter and Jeff Carter.

The family request that donations be made to Anderson Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, in memory of Mr. Harold Keyes.
