A Neshoba County man was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop last month on Highway 19 South near the Dollar General at House.

The man, Clifton McWilliams, 40, 10281 Road 1327, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

Deputies first encountered McWilliams on May 18, at about 7:40 p.m. when he avoided pulling into the Dollar General after seeing deputies parked there.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said deputies then followed McWilliams, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Celica that had been spraypainted black.

Clark said McWilliams turned around on Road 4300, and deputies pulled him over as he came back around in front of Dollar General.

Clark said McWilliams had no insurance, an expired car tag, and no driver’s license.

“He said he had never had one,” Clark said.

A search of the vehicle found a glasses case recovered from underneath the steering wheel. Deputies found a small bag of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and a glass pipe, Clark said.
