Choctaw Central squads fend off NE Lauderdale

The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors defeated Northeast Lauderdale 70-27 on Friday to improve to 16-2 on the season and 4-0 in district play. 

The contest remained close in the first 3 minutes before the Lady Warriors’ defense took advantage of mistakes and capitalized on offense. 

The Lady Warriors were up 4-3 with 5 minutes to go in the first quarter before pulling ahead 20-5. A couple Northeast Lauderdale free throws at the end narrowed the lead to 20-8, which is where the first quarter action would end. 

The second quarter is where things heated up for Choctaw Central, with the Lady Warriors adding another 16 points to take a 36-14 lead into halftime. 

Three minutes into the third quarter and Northeast Lauderdale couldn’t land a basket, while Choctaw Central extended the lead to 48-14. By the middle of the fourth quarter, the lead was extended to 64-24. 

The Lady Warriors are scheduled to play again on Saturday. 

After the girls’ dominating victory, the Choctaw Central Warriors hit the court against Northeast Lauderdale. 

The contest was much closer, with the Warriors leaving the first quarter with a 16-14 lead. They extended the lead to 37-28 at halftime. 

The momentum stayed with the Warriors for the rest of the match and after the final buzzer the score stood at 75-64. 

The Warriors improved to 17-5-1 on the season and remain undefeated in district play. 

They are scheduled to play East Webster on Saturday.
