A Los Angeles man was arrested and charged with a felony amount of cocaine on the Fairgrounds over the weekend, where he was allegedly offering people a “bump” at the Pavillion.

The man, Jeremy Charles Libenstein, 29, 12424 Appleton Way, Los Angeles, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A $20,000 bond was set for Libenstein.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said deputies and Neshoba County Fair Security received a report on Friday, July 26, at about 11 p.m. that a man in an L.A. Dodgers shirt was offering people “a bump” around the Pavilion on Founders Square.

“The only way we could think to interpret that was that he was offering them drugs,” Clark said.

Deputies and Fair Security then fanned out across the Square, searching for the man. Clark said authorities stopped and questioned Libenstein, who fit the description, in front of Cabin 28 and Cabin 29.

“He was acting nervous and kept reaching into his pocket,” Clark said. “The deputy told him to keep his hands where he could see them.”

According to Clark, the deputy noticed a small bulge in Libenstein’s pocket before Libenstein tried to dispose of a small bag in his pocket containing a white powder-like substance believed to be cocaine.

Libenstein was then arrested and taken to the Neshoba County Detention Center.

“He said what he had was a misdemeanor in California,” Clark said. “We told him it was a felony amount here.”
