Bennie “Joe” Posey

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at John E. Stephens Chapel, Philadelphia, MS, for Mr. Bennie “Joe” Posey, age 89, Southside, AL, who passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Pastor Cohen Ezelle will officiate the service. 

The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The burial will be at Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS. 

Joe served his country in the US Army with stints in South Korea, Germany, and Vietnam, serving in military intelligence. He received numerous awards through the years, most notably a bronze star, and proudly retired with over 21 years of service to his country. He was a fun, quick-witted man with a positive attitude and was loved by all who knew him. 

He was preceded in death by Marty Posey, his beloved wife of 61 wonderful years, his second-born son, Gary Joe Posey, his parents, Thomas Martin and Lora Etta Posey, two brothers, William Audell Posey and Thomas Clive Posey, also one sister, Zanie Posey Jayroe. 

He is survived by his son, Guy (Tina Marie) Posey, two grandsons, Jeremy Posey and Christopher (Samantha) Posey, one granddaughter, Liana Posey, six great-grandchildren, Ava, Ansley, Amilia, Rowan, Sophia, and Briar Posey, one brother, AP “Pat” (Milbur) Posey, and one sister-in-law, Donna Meck, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
