Tornadoes pick up first win of season

Philadelphia picked up their first victory of the season last week, with a 44-14 road win against J.Z. George in their region opener. The Tornadoes are one of two teams in their region to start off region play 1-0, with Union being the other. They will host Sebastopol this Friday in what will be Sebsatopol’s first region game of the season.

Neshoba Central had a bye week this week as they prepare for region play. Even with a 1-4 record, the Rockets should be contenders in the region this year, along with teams like Warren Central and Ridgeland. Neshoba Central will travel to take on Vicksburg this Friday night, who is winless on the season.

Choctaw Central was also on a bye week this week, as they get ready for their region opener this week. The Warriors should be competing for a region title this year, sitting at 4-1 on the season through non-region play. Every other team in Choctaw Central’s region has already played a region game, with West Lauderdale and Newton County sitting at 1-0 in region play. The Warriors will travel to take on Newton County on the road this Friday in their region opener.
