Teenager leads deputies on high-speed chase

A teenager was arrested this month on multiple charges including felony fleeing after allegedly leading a deputy on a high-speed chase through town last month, the authorities said.

Nicholas Green, 19, 304 Cherry Avenue, was arrested and charged with felony fleeing, no insurance, resisting arrest, failure to yield to blue lights, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Clark said Green was arrested on the morning of July 3, 2023, when he appeared at the Neshoba County Courthouse for an unrelated pending court case. Jail records show Green bonded out the same day on a bond of $17,800.

On June 13, a Neshoba County deputy was sitting stationary near the intersection of the Highway 15 bypass and Frog Level Road when he noticed a blue Cadillac disregarding a red light at the intersection, according to Clark.

The driver of the Cadillac made a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree turn in the intersection and sped away north on Highway 15.

“The deputy initiated blue lights and pursued the vehicle,” Clark said.

The Cadillac traveled through the parking lot of Canal Place onto County Road 375 and then to Lakeside Drive.

The driver proceeded to Weyerhaeuser Road and eventually stopped at the intersection of Range Avenue and Weyerhaeuser Road. The deputy was able to identify the driver as Green before he sped away again traveling north on Range Avenue.

Clark said the officer terminated the pursuit but continued to follow in the direction the car was traveling. The Cadillac sustained front tire damage and ran off the road and struck the corner of a house at the intersection of King Avenue and Bay Street.

Green then fled on foot abandoning a female in the car. The female was initially taken into custody but was not charged.

Warrants were then issued for Nicholas Green through Neshoba County Justice Court, Clark said.
