A big step toward getting a bridge replaced on County 705 was made by the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors.

Supervisors were advised during last Tuesday's meeting that all right-of-way for the project has been acquired.

"All we will need is the environmental study and we will be ready to put the project out for bid," said County Administrator Jeff Mayo.

The bridge has been closed since early last year. Supervisors hope to get the project started this summer.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Approve the hiring of Barry Truhett as a part-time deputy sheriff;

• Approve an invoice from the Sheriff's Office to the Neshoba County School District for $41,116 to pay for a school resource officer from the 2019 fall term;

• Authorize 50-cent per hour pay increases for three employees from the jail;

• Approve a request for a road bore from Central Water Association on County Road 147;

• Approve a request from the Union School District for two loads of slag for Athletic Complex Drive;

• Approve the recommendation to appoint Sterling Dale Gray as a North Bend Fire Protection commissioner for a term of five years, effective Jan. 21;

• Approve Allen and Hoshall Professional Services to design the project to install an elevator lift at the coliseum. Supervisors also approved the schedule for MASFP classes for 2020;

• Receive bond for receiving clerk for Pam Cheatham.
