A contractor for a project on Road 236 near the Union was recently approved by the Board of Supervisors. 

Supervisors hired Site Master’s Construction as the contractor for a project near Union’s Industrial Circle.

Supervisors considered three bids for the .67 mile road project during their Monday meeting before accepting Site Master’s Construction’s low bid of $379,208. 

The work will include milling and paving work, and the construction of a side lane for trucks to turn into the Tyson Feed Mill. Other bids considered were Dickerson and Bowen’s $470,006 bid and APAC’s $548,503 bid.

In other matters at Monday’s meeting, supervisors voted to:

• Authorized expenses for Sheriff Eric Clark to attend the state Sheriff’s Association winter conference in Biloxi December 6-10.

• Authorized a pay increase for an employee in the Sheriff’s Office. Supervisors also approved a contract with TransUnion Risk and Alternative Data Solutions, Inc., for investigative services — 250 inquiries per month at the cost of $160.

• Authorized an agreement and a closing package with a resolution — signature public funding — financing packers for the road department.

• Approved a funding grant agreement for the County Road 210 bridge bond funds. Supervisors also approved establishing a new bank account for the bond funds for the project.

• Approved paying dues to the Mississippi Circuit Clerk’s Association for Patti Duncan Lee at the cost of $1,000.

• Approved a 16th section land lease agreement between the Neshoba County Schools and Mason and Randi Sugg, 11210 Road 387.

• Approved paying state association dues for Justice Court Judge Johnathan Spears.

• Approved applying for the FY2022 Emergency Medical Services Operating Fund Grant.

• Approved for the election commission to attend training — Jan. 17-21, 2022 — at the IP Resort in Biloxi at the cost of $588 each.

• Approved Nov. 11 as the Veterans Day holiday for county employees. Supervisors approved support of the annual Veterans Day Program at DeWeese Park and for the Neshoba County Coliseum to serve as an alternative site in case of bad weather. Supervisors also approved county holidays for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day as proclaimed by the governor.

• Approved for the extension service to participate in the Southwest District Livestock Show with premiums and awards of $250.

• Approved the county employee payroll ending Oct. 18 and totaling $230,432.

• Approved the elected officials payroll ending Nov. 1 totaling $35,584.

• Accepted the out-of-order claims, the purchase clerk’s October report and the claims docket.

• Approved a bond interest payment of $11,666 to the First National Bank of Clarksdale.

• Approved the removal of old equipment from the county inventory.

• Approved a memorandum of agreement with Taylor Sudden Service for a $180,000 DIP Grant. The county agreed to match 10% of the grant.
