Stolen vehicle ends with drug arrest
A Collinsville woman was arrested on drug charges after being pulled over in a vehicle reported stolen out of Leak County, the authorities said.
Mellissa Comans, 50, 13300 Road 298, Collinsville, was arrested on July 7 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.
Comans was released on a $7,500 bond on July 9.
Clark said Comans faces potential charges related to the stolen vehicle in Leake County as well.
Clark said that on July 7, at about 3:30 p.m. deputies received a notification about a stolen vehicle, a Chevy Lumina, heading into town.
The vehicle was located in The Spot parking Lot off of West Beacon Street, Clark said.
Deputies made contact with a male driver, identified as Malcolm Comans, and a female passenger, identified as Mellisa Comans, who were trying to leave the parking lot in the stolen vehicle, Clark said.
Deputies searched the car and located a bag containing a crystal-like substance. Clark said that was recovered from the woman’s wallet along with a loaded syringe. She was arrested on the felony possession of a controlled substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Clark said Malcolm Comans was detained for a time during the investigation but was not charged.
The vehicle was returned to the owner in Leake County, officials said.
