A stabbing at a motel last Monday evening that sent a man to a Jackson hospital.

Philadelphia Police Detective Bobby Pattillo said that PPD received call on Jan. 20 shortly after 5 p.m. from the Western Motel on Holland Avenue.

"We received a report of an assault that we later determined to be a stabbing," Pattillo said.

Patillo added that the victim was initially treated locally at Neshoba General but was then airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson for further treatment.

Pattillo said one of the difficulties of the investigation is a language barrier. He said that they have been communicating with the victim through a relative who has offered to translate for the officers. Pattillo said that they have a suspect, but police had not made an arrest as of Tuesday. The suspect is also a hispanic male.

The case remains under investigation.
