A convicted sex offender was arrested for being too close to a daycare center, the authorities said.

The man, Joshua Lamar Moore, 40, 12901 Highway 492, was arrested and charged with sex offender going on or near school property, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

Jail records show Moore bonded out on $1,000 on Monday, April 22.

Clark said deputies encountered Moore at a house on Range Avenue next door to a daycare.

Moore was arrested after previously being warned he was not allowed to be that close to the daycare facility.

Deputies arrested Moore at about 3:30 p.m. on April 16 at the Range Avenue home. Moore said he was “just there to wash his clothes,” according to Clark.

Clark said Moore was arrested without incident.

“He knew he was not supposed to be around the daycare,” Clark said.

Clark said the related sex offense charges Moore committed happened in Indiana.

According to Clark, Moore was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in Johnson, Indiana, in May of 2010.

He was subsequently charged with failure to register as a sex offender in November 2021 in Marion, Indiana.
